native dictation for windows that idles at 2 MB

likh is a dictation app. hold ctrl + space, talk, let go, and the words paste wherever you're typing. it transcribes with the ChatGPT plan you already have through the Codex sign-in, so there's no API key and nothing extra to pay. it's fully native, with voice commands, history and hands-free mode.

what it does

  1. hold, talk, let go

a system-wide shortcut records you, transcribes it, and pastes at your cursor in any app.

  2. voice commands

say "new line", "press enter" or "scratch that" while you dictate.

  3. built to sit there all day

it draws on the CPU with no browser engine inside, so leaving it running costs you nothing.

first runa short setup and you're dictating.
historyeverything you said stays on your machine, so you can grab it again later.

why I built it

I wanted dictation that's instant, reliable, and free to leave running. the ones I tried sat at hundreds of MB doing nothing.

likh reuses the ChatGPT plan I already pay for, so there's no key to paste. early tests had the GPU renderer idling at over 200 MB, so the GPU went, and so did the fancy glass.
